Chung-Ang University has 87 year-old tradition of providing prestigious higher education, under the educational slogan of "Die in righteousness, Live in truth."

Chung-Ang University has grown with the modern history of our nation. More than two hundred thousand alumni contributed to democratization and industrialization of our nation. Seven hundred and fifty faculty professors are doing their best in various fields of research day and night. More than twenty eight thousand students on the campus are trained to be equipped with critical thinking and creative mind, in order to make their dream come true out in the world. Chung-Ang University is now being placed among the best universities, full of dreams and hopes, thanks to its alumni, faculty members, and students.

For the past 87 years, Chung-Ang University has produced not only intellectuals of "Righteousness and truth," but also creative leaders who can lead this new age of advanced technological society, on the basis of our traditional culture. In addition, it has made contribution to our nation and society by producing new knowledge with the help of competent research man power. As usual, our libraries and research centers are lit as bright as daytime late at night.

As President, I committed myself to leading this University for four years, standing together with the members of our alumni, faculty, and students. First of all, I will create a university full of creative energy and dynamism. Secondly, I will pursue and encourage characteristic specialization of each division or school, globalization of education-research, and de-centralization and rationalization of school administration. Thirdly, I will become President of Creation and Harmony, by harmonizing creativity of an artist and leadership of a coordinator.

As you may know, I am a composer and conductor. I will compose and conduct the "future of Chung-Ang University." I politely ask that each and every one of you be members of Chung-Ang orchestra and make a great harmony. As I have already conducted orchestras at the 88 Seoul Olympics and 2002 FIFA Korea-Japan World Cup Games, I will conduct the orchestra of Chung-Ang towards the world.
