(2) Korean Folk Village
The purpose of establishment and history
The Korean Folk Village, which was opened on the 3rd October, 1974, as an open-air folk museum and international tourist attraction for both Korean and foreign visitors. It is the home of the true Korean heritage where many features of the Korean culture have been collected and preserved for succeeding generations to see and learn about.
A traditional marketplace offers the exotic flavors of Korean cuisine from various regions. Shops stock a variety of traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. "Farmers' Music and Dance" and "Acrobatics on a Tightrope"are performed in the performing arena twice a day. In spring, autumn and on big holidays, traditional holiday customs and ceremonies of coming-of-age, marriage, funeral and ancestor memorial are recreated.
(03) SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS MUSEUM & SUWON HWASEONG FORTRESS
Samsung Electronics Museum, located in Suwon City, is a place where visitors can fully enjoy high technologies and the state of the art products with which Samsung Electronics is leading the world market. The museum has a nicely equipped exhibition hall and a history hall. You can find many kinds of highly advanced products in a digital electronics area in the exhibition hall, while a dramatic history of Samsung Electronics, currently one of the world best of its kind, is displayed in the history hall.
Hwaseong Fortress is the official fortress of Suwon City, Gyeonggi-do, from the latter days of Joseon Period (1392-1910).The fortress began construction in 1794 and finished in 1796.It was built to show the King's filial piety toward his father Jangheonseja, and also to build a new city with its own economic power.The fortress became designated as Historical Monument No. 3, in January 1963,and in December 1997, it was designated on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage Site.
(4) Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House)
The symbol of Cheong Wa Dae (known to westerners as the Blue House or the presidential residence), is the blue tiles. The first thing that catches your eye when you arrive at Cheong Wa Dae are the blue tiles of the main building. The blue tiles and the smooth roof are in beautiful harmony with Mt. Bukak behind it. As the Blue House represents Korea, the blue tiles and the smooth curve of the roof represents the beauty of Korea.
(5) COEX(Convention and Exhibition Hall)
The COEX celebrated its grand opening ceremony on Mar.,1979. Since then, it has hosted numerous international exhibitions and conventions to provide cultural exchange, Arts events and became the best Convention & Exhibition Center in Korea. This COEX building has 4 stories above ground and 4 floors underground, total dimension is 11,000 pyoung.
The COEX has performed prominent world wide conventions, including The 3rd Asian Europe Meeting (ASEM) on Oct.,2000, The 100th Anniversary of Nobel prize for Peace, World congress of Food Science & Technology, The International Conference on Robotics & Automation, International Advertising Association, World Advertisement Congress, Interpol Congress, and much more.
